Recently there has been a lot of hype around the idea autonomous air travel, and with the reality of such an idea coming closer and closer, Airbus is just the latest company to throw their hat into that particular ring with their new concept, Pop.Up.

Unveiled last week at the Geneva International Motor Show, Pop.Up is a unique autonomous transport concept that mixes both ground and air travel together through its modular design.

The idea is for people to be transported in an autonomous car that, when traffic gets too heavy, can be turned into a passenger drone.  To do this, users will simply call the drone attachment through their smartphones which will then come to their location, attach to the capsule, and carry them to their final destination over the heads of regular commuters.
