IKEA is experimenting with easier ways of assembling their products and exploring the idea of furniture that can "snap together like a jigsaw puzzle".  The change is largely driven by what they're calling the "wedge dowel", invented by prototype engineers at the IKEA pattern shop in Älmhult, Sweden.  The plan is to bring wedge dowels to IKEA's entire furniture range, beginning with their wooden Lisabo table.
