Cannes’ Innovation Lions is in it’s second year, and managed only four awards this year.

In our opinion the best was a dynamic street sign technology called ‘Points’ (pictured), designed by Breakfast in New York. Tapping into mapping and social media data it shows you what’s happening, in the moment, around you. This one felt like a genuine look into the near future with global usefulness and adaptability. The rest were a little ishy. The Grand Prix award went to Russian telco Megafon this billboard technology that turned selfies into 3D images at the Sochi Olympics. As neat as it was, it felt an ephemeral novelty with little commercial value or potential.

This tennis technology from France’s Babolat felt like one of many, many, many sports vs data inventions around right now. No doubt useful but also now extremely commonplace.
