During a recent Q&A session at Facebook’s HQ founder Mark Zuckerberg confirmed Facebook wants is to give its users the “ability to express empathy”. For example, if someone shares something sad, their friends and followers may not feel comfortable ‘liking’ that post however at the same time they need a way to show that they understand what their friend is going through – that they empathise with them.  It has turned out to be “surprisingly complicated to make an interaction that will be simple”, however Zuckerberg confirmed that they were close to shipping a test in the near future.
