When we talk about driverless cars, the prevailing thought is that it is an extremely dangerous concept – where on board computers can crash or be hacked and thus lead to accidents on the road.  But what the majority of people don’t think about is the dangers that will be removed by driverless cars.  The risks of being hit by people driving drunk or texting and driving are gone, as are the risks of drivers being distracted by passengers or not paying attention because of fatigue – instead we would be living in a world where cars adapt to conditions and drive accordingly.  They don’t feel fatigue, get inebriated or have bad days – they simply drive according to the road code, promising us a safer future than our current present.
