We’re looking for a talented intermediate-senior designer (minimum 4 years of studio or agency experience) to join our unique Previously Unavailable team.
Job Description
Intermediate or Senior Brand Designer
Background
Previously Unavailable (PU) is a company that’s difficult to tightly define — part venture studio, part innovation consultancy, part design practice. We bring together an uncommon set of disciplines to design and develop new strategies, products, and brands. We work with ambitious leaders who are inventing or reinventing. We might take an equity stake in the companies we work with, or launch and grow successful ventures of our own.
We’re looking for a designer to join a core team of 5 designers, and be part of a wider group of 19 humans at PU. While we have grown in size over the last few years, we don’t intend on scaling much more ourselves — this is one of our final roles to fill.
Someone who is passionate about making new things, can operate in ambiguity, confident in identity design and packaging, and excited about the prospect of working with some of Aotearoa’s most innovative companies.
Ideally you are a passionate graphic / brand designer at heart, deeply interested in all things design, typography, systems, art and culture, with the ambition and versatility to work across many clients and apply design skills to a range of projects.
Requirements & Skills
Experience:
While we don’t require an exact amount of years experience, this role is for intermediate or early senior designers. This is likely to be a minimum of 4 years of studio or agency experience. If you have an incredible portfolio and fall outside of this requirement, please reach out (as we are most concerned with finding the right fit).
Location:
While we do have flexible working, PU is a ‘studio first’ team — meaning, we work predominantly in-person at our studio in Ponsonby (which we love!). This is an Auckland based role.
Proficient in:
Contribute to:
Overseas applicants with a NZ working visa are more than welcome to apply — however, this is an Auckland, NZ-based role, not remote.
Apply
Please submit your portfolio (curating your best 4-5 projects or design outputs, outlining your contribution to that project) with a cover letter to jobs@previously.co (the cover letter is just as important! We want to get a sense of your ambition and passion for what you do, and what the future of design looks like to you).
