We're Hiring – Junior or Intermediate Brand Designer

We’re looking for a junior or intermediate brand designer to join our Previously Unavailable team.

Background
At PU, we care deeply about using design where it’ll have the biggest impact. If you’re a junior or intermediate brand designer looking for your next career step, we have an exciting new role available.

Lots of places will say they’re not a typical studio, but I promise we actually aren’t. We’re an amalgamation of a venture studio, innovation consultancy and design studio — which makes us unique in the make-up of our team and the way we work day to day.

We bring together an uncommon set of disciplines to design and develop new strategies, products, and brands. While the work moves quickly, we're in it for the long term. We take equity stakes in the companies we work with, launch our own ventures, and partner with founders building new products and services.

We’re hiring a designer to join our core design team of 5, and be part of a wider group of 19 at PU — someone who is passionate about making new things, can operate in ambiguity, and is excited about the prospect of working with some of Aotearoa’s most innovative companies. We've grown intentionally over the last few years to our ideal size, and this is one of our final roles to fill.

The ideal candidate is a brand designer at heart, has experience in identity design and packaging, is deeply interested in all things design, typography, systems, art and culture, with the versatility to work with many clients and apply design skills to a range of projects.

Requirements & Skills

Experience:
While we don’t require an exact amount of years experience, this role is for junior or early intermediate designers. This is likely to be a minimum of 1-2 years of in-house or agency experience. If you fall outside of this requirement but are passionate about the role, please reach out, as we are most concerned with finding the right fit for our team.

Location:
PU is a ‘studio first’ team, meaning we work predominantly in-person at our studio in Ponsonby (which we love!). This is an Auckland based role.

Please send through an email to jobs@previously.co with why the role excites you, what you’d like to learn more about the role, or about us, and your latest portfolio. We’d love to see a mix of professional work and personal projects or experiments if your professional work doesn’t truly showcase your creative potential.
