Previously Unavailable is a bit hard to categorise. We’re part venture studio, part innovation consultancy, part brand agency, and part design firm. What ties it all together is our work: partnering with ambitious leaders who are inventing or reinventing, and helping turn bold ideas into something real in the world.

Our Venturing team sits at the centre of that: it’s where insight, strategy, and commercial thinking come together to give new ventures a genuine shot at success.

We’re now looking for an Intermediate or Senior Venture Strategist to join us – someone who’s excited by the challenge of shaping new opportunities and helping bring them to life.

The Opportunity

No two projects in our Venturing team look the same. One week you might be uncovering the insight that reframes an entire category; the next you’re pressure-testing a business model, or working closely with our brand and design teams to make sure the strategy carries all the way through into the work.

We operate across a mix of client engagements, venture partnerships, and businesses we’re building ourselves. Sometimes there’s a clear brief. Sometimes the real work is figuring out what the question should be in the first place.

Either way, you’ll be involved end-to-end from early thinking through to delivery – helping shape ideas and carry them through into something tangible.

What you'll do

Shape the strategy

• Developing the strategic direction across ventures, clients, and partners: bringing together brand, commercial, market, customer, and product thinking into a coherent point of view
• Find the insight that actually matters: designing and contributing to research, making sense of what comes back, and pulling a clear strategic direction from the noise
• Communicating that thinking with clarity: telling compelling stories from data and insight that help clients and partners see what you can see, and build confidence in the direction
• Spotting signals in adjacent markets and categories, and translate them into opportunities worth pursuing

Shape the commercial thinking

• Bringing commercial literacy to the work: from pricing and revenue models through to market sizing and overall viability
• Stress-testing assumptions and contributing meaningfully to the numbers, even when you're not building the model from scratch

Lead and deliver across projects

• Running workshops, driving work streams, and keeping things moving across a mix of project lead and contributor roles
• Being someone clients and partners trust to get to great answers, even when the brief is still ambiguous or evolving

Be a strong voice on brand and creative

• Run workshops, drive work streams, and maintain momentum across projects in both lead and support roles
• Bring a clear point of view on creative direction, guiding the work to stay true to the strategic intent

Help build the business

• Contributing to how the Venturing team finds, wins, and delivers projects
• Bringing your own methodologies and ideas to help shape how we work as we grow

What we're looking for

The experience and skills that matter

We'd expect around 4–7 years of relevant experience, but capability matters more than tenure. You might becoming from a consultancy, agency, corporate innovation role, or the start-up world. What matters is that you’ve worked on real problems, made real decisions, and built up a breadth of experience you can draw on.

What you bring

You won't tick every box here (and that’s fine) but we’re looking for strength across a number of these are

• You've built or launched new products, services, or businesses, and you understand what that actually takes
• You're good at identifying opportunities and shaping innovation strategy
• You can synthesise research and data into clear, compelling strategic thinking
• You understand business models, can size a market, and know how to stress-test commercial logic
• You’re comfortable using prototyping and iteration to test ideas and move towards answers
• You have a point of view on brand and creative work, and you're confident communicating it
• You've worked in human-centred design or customer research, and you know how to apply it

Who you are

• You thrive in ambiguity and know how to find clarity within it
• You can shift easily between presenting to senior stakeholders and getting hands-on with the work
• You balance creative thinking with commercial rigour, and know when to switch modes
• You communicate clearly: in a workshop, in a deck, and in a conversation
• You're genuinely curious about business, people, and the world around you
