We're Hiring
We are looking for super-creative designers to join our team. People who love brand, design, variety, and working collaboratively. People ready to get stuck in and make something magic.
We believe the best way to predict the future is to make it. Come work with our Previously Unavailable team, alongside our venture studios and partners building brands and new things from the ground up.
We are a venture and innovation studio based in Tāmaki Makaurau. We’re a little oddly shaped which makes the opportunity for designers a truly unique one. While work at PU takes many forms; strategy, business development and launching new companies and products, design is at the heart of everything we do.
We’re looking for an intermediate and a senior designer to join our growing team. We’re purposefully casting the net wide as we value a creative and culture fit above years of experience. This is a role to grow into and build something special for the long-term.
We’re a productive studio and we switch between industries, you may work on B2B Saas start-up one week, and a pet food brand the next. If variety is something you enjoy, you might be the right fit for you.
We’re looking for a senior and intermediate designer to join the team. We’re purposefully casting the net wide as we value a creative and culture fit above years of experience. This is a role to grow into and build something special for the long term.
The ideal candidate is a conceptual thinker and brand designer at heart. This is a hands-on design role, and for someone who enjoys making, is deeply interested in all things design, visual culture, with a passion for the craft and building new things.
While the work moves quickly, we're in it for the long term. We take equity stakes in the companies we work with, launch our own ventures, and partner with founders building new products and services.
Intermediate and Senior Brand Designer
Full-time Permanent Position
Experience:
We are hiring an intermediate and senior brand designer. For an intermediate designer, this is 2-3 years of in-house or agency experience, for a senior; 5+ years experience. If you fall outside of this but are passionate about the role, please reach out as we are open to the right candidate that can grow into the role.
Location:
PU is a ‘studio first’ team, meaning we work in-person at our studio in Ponsonby, Tamaki Makaurau.
Based overseas? We’d love to hear from you, if you’re able to relocate and have the right to work full-time in New Zealand.
The role day-to-day
• In-depth research of visual themes and brand benchmarks
• You work with the strategy team to develop brand strategies into idea-driven visual identities.
• Demonstrate a strong command of typography, colour, art direct illustration and photography and work with collaborators to build motion principles.

• Develop brand guidelines and toolkits
• Contribute meaningfully to internal review sessions and client presentations
• Take on feedback and input from the team with a collaborative spirit
• Proactively manage your own time, calendar and meetings.
Proficient in:

• Bonus: A desire to engage and learn new tools for different projects, such as After Effects, Cavalry, Glyphs and new AI tools.
How you work
• Lift and support the work around you.
• Share knowledge and champion team members.
